MMIS presents...
Fresh + cheerbleederz + Bean Weevil
cheerbleederz succinctly describe themselves as "three-piece-indie-rock-whatever, London". You'll likely be wanting a bit more flesh on those bones, so we'll describe them as "that ace band from the last Indietracks, first on the main stage Saturday afternoon, y'know, stompy, fizzy and a little bit Fightmilky maybe?" Debut album 'Even in Jest' is out now on the excellent Alcopop! label, and we think this might be their first time in Sheffield, so drag your steaming carcass out on a Thursday night and show them some love.
Tour partners Fresh also came to our attention at Indietracks (sob), doing the acoustic thing in the merch tent, which really helped their songs to shine through. Ah, their songs - or as we think of them, gleaming little gems of busy, punky thoughtfulness, snapshots of youth on the cusp of big decisions, never quite resolving but always winning you over. They too join us from that London, so drag your steaming etc etc and so on - it's not often enough that we get to see their like in these parts!
We are delighted, finally, to secure the services of Sheffield's brilliant Bean Weevil in completing the line-up. Yes, they chuck out a big old racket alright, but a big old racket leavened with moments of sweetness and light, occasionally revelation and reminiscence. It's quirky songwriting layered up into a kind of infectious grunge pop which gives zero fucks about your boring brother's preconceptions. For fans of The Lovely Eggs, The Spook School and, y'know, ACE MUSIC.
Tickets £8 in advance. £10 on the door. No one turned away due to lack of funds.
