For our live show in the evening, we are ecstatic to welcome back Dele Sosimi to Sheffield, this time alongside Medlar for their Steel City debut performing as Dele Sosimi x Medlar, with Sheffield legend, Levi Bussue from Phonetics, warming us up.
For our club event we'll be welcoming two Sheffield natives and UK legends; the mastermind behind Electric Chair, Homoelectric, and Homobloc; Luke Una; and Horse Meat Disco's Luke Howard joining us for a very special Brazilian set. Plus our good friends at Tzara and Fortythree join us to complete the lineup.
We're taking no half measures with this one as we'll be bringing Raze Sound System in for Dele Sosimi x Medlar and Luke Howard's performance, with the venue's bespoke paraphlex system in the basement for Luke Una.

Live show from 19:00 - 22:30
Dele Sosimi x Medlar is the coming together of two very different but talented musicians. Their diverse backgrounds are brilliantly broad and authentic; Dele is a global Afrobeat ambassador and Medlar is an established electronic artist that fuses everything from deep house and disco, to funk and jungle. Now Dele and Medlar come together in both the studio and live arena, drawing on their own respective worlds and serving up a fresh new sound that is more than the sum of its parts. This unlikely union has its roots in a Medlar remix of Dele’s ‘You No Fit Touch Am’ track in 2015. Since that moment of mutual appreciation, the pair has continually exchanged ideas, explored the similarities and differences between them and worked up a thrilling live show.
Each jam is different because they are crafted from improvised and on-the-fly melodies and basslines, with elements of Afro, jazz, funk, house and soul. Master Nigerian-British musical director, bandleader, singer and keyboardist Dele brings the shows alive with his analog synth magic and characterful vocal sounds, then underground mainstay Medlar loops and dubs smart effects and samples through an MPC as drum machines pile up ever-evolving rhythms. There have been standout shows at places such as London’s iconic Jazz Cafe, underground club Oval Space and plenty of European festivals including Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here Festival. There is plenty more to come now the pair have fully found their groove.
Dele has been a leading light in the Afrobeat scene since the 80s. He started out touring with the legendary Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80 band as a child prodigy and has gone on to headline the likes of Montreux Jazz Festival, consult for the National Theatre’s production of Fela! and lecture music at London Metropolitan University amongst other places.
Medlar, meanwhile, has been entrenched in the electronic underground for more than a decade. As well as DJing around the world and producing for labels like Wolf Music, he has worked behind the counter at Rye Wax Records and as a cutting and mastering engineer at the cult Peckham Cuts Dubplate Shop. Dele Sosimi and Medlar have accomplished plenty on their own, but together they are taking us into a new world of unknown musical pleasures.
To complete our guest lineup in the evening, we are excited to welcome local crew and Sheffield legend, Levi Bussue, AKA the mastermind behind Phonetics. Established in 2000, Phonetics has built up a reputation for consistently bringing fresh and exciting global artists and UK underground trailblazers to Sheffield over the course of more than 2 decades. These guys have done it all, grafting since the pre-digital era with a history of incredible guests who have gone on to earn worldwide successes, contributing something truly special and authentic to the Sheffield scene over the years.

Club show from 23:00 - 04:00
Beginning his career as an original Sheffield house young blood in the 80's, Luke Una moved to Manchester to kickstart a four-decade long career that has carved out a number of incredible, globally-recognised parties including Electric Chair, Electric Elephant, Homoelectric, and Homobloc, to name but a few. His contribution to the UK's underground club scene and Manchester's LGBTQ+ cultural landscape is second to none, and plays homage to Luke's wild eclecticism as part of The Unabombers from Balearic, to Brazilians, E Soul, House, Disco, and Techno.
Opening up the basement before Luke Una, we have two of our favourite Sheffield DJs and La Rumba regulars; Jake K and Loups, from the Fortythree collective to serve us up with a concoction of leftfield house, balaeric, jazz and disco.
Upstairs, we have another household name behind one of the UK’s legendary parties that has evolved into a powerful force in queer and club culture as a whole; Horse Meat Disco’s Luke Howard, who we are delighted to welcome for a very special Brazilian set in his hometown of Sheffield. Taking inspiration from a diverse, counter-cultural history of clubs and DJs, the sound of Horse Meat Disco is impossible to place, with the sprawling, ever-expanding musical collections of Luke Howard and HMD’s fellow residents, taking their listeners on a journey across genres and eras. Rooted in hedonism, rhythm, freedom and motion, a Horse Meat Disco set reinforces everything invigorating about disco, blending classics, italo disco, house, oddities, and punk funk, to produce their “queer party for everyone” spirit we’ve all come to enjoy. After seeing Horse Meat Disco across Sheffield and afar over the years we’ve always said that, if we ever hosted them it would have to be extra special with our own spin on it. So once we only recently learned that Luke grew up in Sheffield and spent a number of years in our native Venezuela and Brazil, we’d knew we’d have to invite him along for a Brazilian / Latin special for our Birthday event.
Joining us on the warm up, we have the lovely Bruce La Danse from Tzara and Westival for a special b2b.
