MAIN: POWER OUT
Strobe lights and lots of flashes used during the show.
Step-only access to basement.
Brought to you by Sheffield-based drummer Sarah Heneghan, Power Out is a performative mish-mash of live drums, electronics, and lights to create a whirling atmosphere of beats; some dancey, others immersive. The set brings a narrative of pumping dance music contrasted with improvised live drumming. This is coupled with bespoke lighting to create a show that blows apart expectations of what solo drumming can be, and what jazz-fusion performances can show you.
Power Out has performed at festivals such as Manchester Jazz Festival, No Bounds Festival, and London Jazz Festival.
“For one person, the clatter was extraordinary; Power Out was positively electrifying.” Now Then magazine, 2021.
SUPPORT: JULIANA DAY
Sheffield-based Juliana Day's music uses a haunting combination of recorders, whistles and vocalisations to build up looped textures and ambient, often improvised, sound worlds. She released her debut single “The Earth Yearns For A Storm” last year. She is heavily influenced by natural world sounds and speech-like rhythms, producing music which is both emotive and vulnerable.
