Uncut:

They combine Joy Division’s intensity – especially with, despite his heavy accent, Burnett’s blunt, Ian Curtis-like delivery - and a likeable C86 amateurism.  They deserve more than ‘Scotland’s Best Kept Secret’ status.

The Skinny: 5 STARS
The album manages to capture the uniquely Scottish sensibility of brief confidence, or gallousness, with an underlying self-deprecating streak. It is both the perfect introduction and retrospective to a band of real cultural significance.

The Scotsman: 4 STARS
Albini’s characteristically raw analogue stamp is all over Action Hero, with bonus outbreaks of crazed jazz trumpet, while the blithe guitars and synth drone of I Hope You Never Go are weighted with deep bass rumble, but the tempo and temperature cool with the languorous twanging country guitar and twinkling keys of Grow.

Is This Music:
This a mighty album, the reinvention of Dundee legends Spare Snare with the help of Chem19 (Paul Savage overseeing) and Steve Albini producing, what a story! And the band delivers, in spades…
Spare Snare have excelled themselves and really taken the Albini challenge seriously – fantastic music.
