La Rumba and We Out Here Festival join forces again this April with a day & night party at Sidney & Matilda which celebrates diversity in live music, club culture, and Sheffield’s local talent, an ethos held closely by the festival as it approaches its third edition this August.
For the live show we have the 10-piece multi-genre collective, TC & The Groove Family, featuring Sheffield’s Franz Von performing ahead of their debut album release which explores grooves and genres from the UK and around the world, including afrobeat, breakbeat, jungle, jazz and highlife.
They’ll be joined by the 6-piece Leeds group, Plantfood, who have been making waves up North with their eclectic spiritual jazz and contemporary dance style. Completing the lineup will be La Rumba and Future Jazz in support to provide an evening full of live and DJ entertainment.
Doors will remain open to those who purchase a combo ticket for the club show which starts at 23:00.
Headlining the club show we have one of the UK’s most influential artists of recent times, Pearson Sound, who will be celebrating 15 years of Hessle Audio at this year’s festival. As one third of the team behind the label, Pearson Sound has become more than synonymous with the cutting edge of UK dancefloor music. He’ll be joined by Thirdspace and Dub Shack for a heavyweight session in the basement.
Co-headlining the club show we have one of La Rumba and We Out Here’s firm favourites and regular guests, Mafalda. During her relatively short time since moving to the UK, she's become a mainstay at Dekmantel, Boiler Room, and Dimensions Festivals, has started the eclectic Melodies re-issue label alongside Floating Points, has her own Red Bull Radio show, and had her Resident Advisor mix selected by Crack Magazine as one of the best mixes of the year. Joining her in the mezzanine is La Rumba residents, Román and Marcelo.
Completing the club show we have two of Sheffield’s most exciting artists and regular nights, MellyD and Tzara’s Bruce La Danse, in the Forest who bring an array of diverse genres to their sets, full of tropical disco, Latin, Soul, house, and deep electronica.
Tickets available via Resident Advisor.
